Ohana Church in the Home

is the New Testament Early Church pattern for
Bible Study and quickly growing up in Christ Jesus
as a Christian. In the Early church is was a
forum and interactive and more like a party.

…called Koinonia

Actually the English word

Church

has interesting meanings.

And this would not exclude larger facilities for a unified John 17 vision for evangelism and/or teaching. But for the Early Church the deep spiritual work of the Holy Spirit was done in the homes of those who allowed their home to be open on some night of the week for a safe place to grow in Christ Jesus.

The House Churches

listed in the New Testament are as follows.

  • Rome

    16:5

    Rome 16:5
Also greet the church that meets in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the first convert to Christ from [the west coast province of] Asia

  • 1 Corinthians

    16:19

    1 Corinthians 16:19
The churches of Asia send you their greetings. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church [that meets] in their house, send you their warm greetings in the Lord.

  • Colossians

    4:15

    Colossians 4:15
Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church that meets in her house.

  • Philippians

    1:2

    Philippians 1:2
and to [your wife] Apphia our sister, and to Archippus our fellow soldier [in ministry], and to the church that meets in your house:

There are no building funds mentioned in the New Testament and no buildings known as the church. All of the offerings and gifts went for supporting evangelism or helping the poor.
